Perspective from TMA Brasil

Rafa Klotz, Senior Managing Director, International discussed the challenges related to generating liquidity in Brazilian “judicial recovery” proceedings (the equivalent of US Chapter 11 in Brazil) at the VIII Congresso TMA Brasil in  São Paulo earlier this week. With 460 attendees, a 30% increase over last year, this year’s TMA set a new record, offering attorneys, turnaround consultants, M&A experts, and other financial professionals in banking and related services an opportunity to network and hear from industry leaders. Rafa’s talk drew upon his 20-year experience in insolvencies across three continents: “By localizing proven techniques in retail and industrial dispositions, we are likely to see more successful outcomes right here in Brazil.”  Earlier this year, Gordon Brothers established operations in Brazil. The expansion also included an investment in local valuations firm, Planconsult.

Rafa recently wrote about the firm’s outlook on Brazil in The Secured Lender.
